AURE Skylights have been installed at the World Bank’s new Administration building in Abuja, Nigeria, marking a significant milestone for both the project and Augenium’s global expansion.
Designed by Manning Architects and delivered by Venco Imtiaz Construction Company, the new building is designed as a showcase for sustainable construction and is targeting LEED Gold, WELL and EDGE certifications. The integration of Augenium’s photovoltaic skylights demonstrates how renewable energy generation can be incorporated directly into architectural elements without compromising daylight, aesthetics or functionality.
A total of 96 AURE Skylights have been installed across the building, with the system expected to generate approximately 37,800 kWh of electricity annually. Beyond contributing to the building’s on-site energy generation, the skylights form an integral part of its architectural design, combining natural daylight with renewable energy generation in a single building element.
For Augenium, the Abuja project represents several important firsts. It is the company’s first commercial project in Africa and the first completed installation of its AURE Skylight technology. The project provides a valuable real-world demonstration of Augenium’s ability to deliver integrated solar solutions for high-performance buildings in international markets.
