Sydney House is a landmark redevelopment in Sydney, Australia, integrating Augenium’s building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) technology into the building envelope. As part of the project, Augenium is supplying 350 m² of its AURE Cladding between levels 44 and 50.
The installation is designed to provide renewable energy generation while maintaining the architectural aesthetic required for a high-profile commercial development. AURE Cladding brings photovoltaic generation into the façade without introducing conventional solar panels that could compromise the visual intent of the design.
The 45.6 kWp system is designed to contribute to the project’s sustainability objectives, including its target of achieving a 6-Star NABERS rating. The project also supports broader City of Sydney net zero objectives by integrating renewable energy generation directly into the building’s architecture.
The project is being delivered by Richard Crookes Constructions for SRG Global, with architectural design by FJC Studio and BVN Architecture. Augenium’s involvement demonstrates how solar technology can be incorporated into complex commercial developments while responding to the aesthetic, performance and sustainability requirements of the project.
Augenium’s proprietary AURE Cladding embeds photovoltaic technology within high-performance glazing and façade systems, delivering a sustainable, energy-efficient alternative. In the Sydney House redevelopment, the integration of Augenium’s advanced BIPV technology will enhance the building’s sustainability and energy performance targets. The SRG team along with the project’s architects were particularly impressed by the visual appeal of Augenium’s products, which seamlessly matched the non-photovoltaic materials used on the building, providing the project architects with the creative freedom essential for a sophisticated design execution.Sayeed Ansari, Project Manager at SRG Global
For Augenium, Sydney House represents an opportunity to demonstrate the capabilities of its AURE Cladding in a prominent Australian commercial setting. The project highlights the potential of BIPV to replace or complement conventional solar systems by turning architectural surfaces into energy-generating assets.
By integrating solar generation into a visually prominent part of the building, Sydney House demonstrates how renewable energy can become part of the architectural language itself, supporting ambitious sustainability targets without requiring a compromise on design.
