Enex100, located at 100 St Georges Terrace in Perth CBD, is an important milestone in Augenium’s commercial deployment of its advanced building material. The project involved the installation of 217 full-black AURE Cladding panels across approximately 360 m² of the building’s façade. This demonstrates how solar generation can be incorporated into an existing commercial property without compromising its architectural appearance.
The project was commissioned by ISPT, the property owner of Enex100, with energy and sustainability consultancy support from Obi Energy. Augenium’s solution was selected following an assessment of competing technologies, with the project requirements placing particular emphasis on non-combustibility, ease of maintenance and practical integration with the existing building envelope.
For ISPT, it is crucial to enhance the sustainability and thereby the value of our property portfolio while meeting our tenants’ and stakeholders’ broader ESG expectations. We were the first Australian property company to achieve carbon neutrality across our portfolio in 2020 and we challenge ourselves to become carbon positive from 2025.Garry Hendrix, Senior Engineer, ISPT
Each panel measures approximately 1200 mm x 1500 mm and incorporates laminated glass construction with an output of approximately 300 W per panel. The full-black finish allows the photovoltaic technology to form part of the façade’s visual expression while contributing renewable energy generation to the building.
This project demonstrates how the façade itself can become an active energy-generating component.
The project also provides a practical reference for Augenium’s expanding AURE portfolio in Australia. By combining architectural finishes, integrated framing and photovoltaic generation, Enex100 demonstrates the potential to retrofit commercial buildings with renewable energy technology while responding to real-world construction, safety and maintenance requirements.
